How to see tonight's northern lights – the strongest in 20 years

Check the Aurora Forecast Use reliable sources like NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center or Aurora forecast websites/apps to monitor the aurora activity level (Kp index).

Choose a Dark, Clear Location Head to a location away from city lights, ideally in rural or remote areas with minimal light pollution. A clear sky is essential for optimal viewing.

Time Your Visit Plan your viewing during peak hours, typically late evening to early morning hours when the sky is darkest and auroras are most visible.

Dress Appropriately Dress warmly in layers, including a hat, gloves, and insulated clothing, as temperatures can be cold during nighttime aurora viewing.

Bring Essential Gear Pack a flashlight (with a red filter to preserve night vision), camera with tripod (for capturing long exposure shots), and extra batteries.

Stay Patient and Observant Once at your chosen location, give your eyes at least 20-30 minutes to adjust to the darkness. Look towards the northern horizon for faint green or colorful lights.

Enjoy the Experience Take in the awe-inspiring sight of the northern lights dancing across the sky. Appreciate the beauty of this natural phenomenon and the rarity of such a strong display.
